Another week, another newsletter of local news for Medway. How exciting. I have no idea how I’ve even managed to put this edition together given it is currently 29 degrees inside my house and I pretty much feel like I’m dying as soon as it hits anything above about 24. Speaking of which..

I’m writing this edition of Local Authority on the hottest day. Yesterday was also the hottest day of the year. So was Wednesday.

Now, some hot days in summer aren’t entirely unusual, and indeed there are some (weird) people out there who actually seem to enjoy this sort of thing.

But it’s hard to escape the thought that things are getting just a little bit too hot.

It’s time to talk about the climate elephant in the room.

Now, this is a Medway newsletter and I’m not going to sit and prognosticate on global or national solutions to this, but rather look at where we are on a local level.

And on that front, unfortunately, I have bad news.
