In case we hadn’t mentioned it enough recently in one of our missives from Local Authority towers, Medway is facing local elections in May. Turnout at the 2019 Election was 31.3%, which is… not great. Whilst there are different reasons why one chooses not to vote, an existential crisis over the meaninglessness of it all is something we thought would be good to look at this week. We’ll do this by looking at three key positions within the council and asking them Tony Benn’s 5 Questions for the Powerful:
“What power have you got?”
“Where did you get it from?”
“In whose interests do you use it?”
“To whom are you accountable?”
“How do we get rid of you?”
