Interesting read. Growing up in the 60's, I realize the offence caused with the term, "coloured people" Even as a kid, I was very aware it was often said as derisory, to distinguish "Them from us" and understood to mean we were better, more elite. As kids, we didn't care about labels, we had friends, not white friends/POC friends. Just friends. Our parents on the other hand, different story.

Labels are probably the main reason for a them and us situation. They have a different label, they must be the enemy. Wouldn't it be better to be defined as being Human, then everyone is the same, or is that too much ideology to handle. That's the only label we need.
