What Keevil asked Local Authority founder Ed Jennings

Note from Ed: As we enter the second year of Local Authority, I wanted to expand the scope of the project a little bit. Moving to three editions each week felt like a natural move, but it wasn’t feasible to put out that many newsletters every week on my own. As such, I’ve asked my old Political Medway partner Steven Keevil to come on board to write some Monday editions. I hope you enjoy what Steven has in store over the coming weeks, where he’ll be digging deep into Medway issues and conducting interviews with various Medway figures. These editions will usually be behind the paywall, but this first (incredibly self-indulgent) interview is available for free. Consider it a bank holiday treat perhaps.
When Ed and I discussed my writing long-form pieces for Local Authority, I knew one of the things I wanted to do was something that hadn’t been done with The Political Medway. One-on-one interviews. These would be 60-minute sit-downs covering a range of topics political and otherwise. I was excited by the potential when my big two subjects both instantly agreed, and you can read those in the coming months. These interviews will be one per month, and usually for paid subscribers only. The rest of the month will be essays, but more on those next week. Having secured interviews, I needed a subject to do a test run, to make sure the equipment worked, and that I could get the timings right. So for the first of these interviews, I sat down with Local Authority founder Ed Jennings to discuss beginnings, music promotion, liberal democracy, and the future.
