We can stop talking about city status for now

Medway still isn’t a city.

It wasn’t a city when it was formed in 1998.

And now, at the fourth time of asking, it still isn’t going to be a city.

The government this morning confirmed that while 8 of the 39 towns that applied for city status this year will be awarded the honour, Medway was not among them.
