Local Authority will host an Open Newsroom at Sun Pier House in Chatham on Friday as part of Indie News Week.

The event will give readers and residents the chance to meet the team, ask questions, suggest stories, and discuss the issues affecting their part of Medway.

Indie News Week is run by the Public Interest News Foundation, of which Local Authority is a member. This year's theme is 'No news is bad news,' which is a pretty good summary of why independent local journalism needs to exist.

The point of the day is simple enough. Come and tell us what we're missing.

If there's something happening in your part of Medway that deserves more attention, we'd like to hear about it. We're particularly keen to hear from people in Medway's villages and more rural communities, where stories and issues can struggle to reach a wider audience.
