It’s been a weird day watching local election results coming in from across the country, knowing Medway still has to wait another year for our turn. Still, some interesting results from the parts of Kent that were voting today. The Conservatives lost control in Maidstone and lost all but two seats they were contesting in Tunbridge Wells. A year from now we’ll find out if Medway will follow the same path.
The Casino Rooms won’t become a Waitrose anytime soon
Everyone’s favourite spot for a fight in Rochester, the Casino Rooms, will face their licence review hearing on Tuesday.
Sadly, it appears that Kent Police didn’t get the memo about turning the Casino Rooms into a Waitrose, and will instead only be asking for stricter licence measures. These include the security staff wearing CCTV body cameras, and all patrons having their ID scanned on entry to the venue. Because of course, the way to deal with a problematic venue is to introduce less privacy for the users.
Anyway, what is interesting is just why Kent Police have triggered the licence review in the first place.
