We’re a little over a year away from local elections here in Medway, and the ongoing rift within the Medway Tories continues to threaten to tear them apart between now and then. This week came the news that longtime cabinet member Cllr Jane Chitty has been deselected by her local party, disqualifying her from standing again next year.

This is just the latest in a line of incidents for the formerly disciplined Medway Conservative group. For years the group was very good at keeping their disagreements behind closed doors, but that practice has been breaking down over the past year.
