Following our one-on-one interview with the leader of Medway Council’s opposition Cllr Vince Maple, he made his position clear on several issues: he’s a key supporter of equal civil partnerships, a campaigner against Fixed Odds Betting Machines, and most shockingly, that he was ready to be elected as Leader of Medway Council. This brought to mind David Cameron’s warning tweet against chaos with Ed Milliband, instead of the stability and strength we’ve seen over the past few years.

Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband:

This - of course - left me thinking. If Cllr Maple was made leader of Medway Council after 2023’s local elections, would Medway be facing chaos rather than the continued ‘stability and strength’ of Medway’s Conservatives?

Whilst it’s impossible to prove a counterfactual, we can look at the motions that Cllr Maple and the other members of the Labour Group have brought to full council since he became group leader in 2012. In this hypothetical what if, let’s assume Cllr Maple has become the leader of Medway Council. We can look at those motions and votes and get a taste of what chaos Labour would have brought to Medway.

Let us begin.

Agents of chaos.
