Today we’re popping back to our occasional series of looking at places around the world that share the same name as places in our towns. Today, for the first time, we are off to India…
One of the built-in design flaws in this feature is that if you’re looking for places around the world that share names with places in Medway, most of them tend to be in the English language world. So far we’ve looked at places in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and of course closer to home. For this edition, I was intent on finding somewhere outside of that sphere, and with a bit of digging, I managed to find one.
Alas, there are no Medways or Chathams or Rochesters in the non-English speaking world, but it turns out that off the coast of India in the Arabian Sea lies a St. Mary’s Island. Which is rather different to ours.
